I threw a medium shadow
Last night
Outside your window
Under an Autumn streetlight.

Perhaps
As Winter deepens
My shadow will grow tall enough
to scale your wall.
And tremble,
tongue-tied
on your dreaming eyelids.

You are that far from me.

A shadow length away.

It may as well be a universe.
