While you sleep

Sleep, by Aline Joyce
While you sleep
I watch you
so peaceful
so vulnerable
You are so far away
but here with me
I long to touch you
your eyelids tremble
your lips are moving
Suddenly you sigh so sweetly
I smile
your hand is searching for me
I hold you with my thoughts
I caress you with my eyes
I want to kiss that lock of hair that falls upon your forehead
You turn
open your eyes for just a moment
to see if I am here
You smile
I am there
