The Kiss at the Hotel de Ville...

Le Baiser de l' Hotel de Ville, Robert Doisneau, 1950

Always the night

Starry night, by Vincent Van Gogh
Always the night
with infinite arms of blue
always
when unnoticed and forgotten
our dreams set sail across the stars

The moment

I live only for the moment
When your shadow caresses me
When you love me without words
Beyond time

I live only for the moment
When all that I was is vanishing
When I run scared to hide in your arms
Finding peace

I live only for the moment
When I forgive myself at last
When I find the courage to smile again
Blessed with your love

As the wind blows

the setting sun
carries away my longing
as the wind blows
my yearning for your loving arms
sets the passing clouds on fire...

"Ah Forse Lui", from La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi

Ah fors’è lui che l’anima solinga
ne’ tumulti godea sovente pingere
de’ suoi colori occulti!
Lui, che modesto e vigile
all’egre soglie ascese,
e nuova febbre accese
destandomi all’amor!
A quell’amor ch’è palpito
dell’universo intero,
misterïoso, altero,
croce e delizia al cor.
A me, fanciulla, un candido
e trepido desire,
quest’effigiò dolcissimo
signor dell’avvenire.
Quando ne’ cieli il raggio
di sua beltà vedea,
e tutta me pascea
di quel divino error.
Sentia che amore è palpito
dell’universo intero,
misterioso, altero,
croce e delizia al cor!
Ah, perhaps he is the one to take
away my unhappiness,
to bring joy to my tormented soul!
He, who is modest,
strong and honourable.
He, who has brought my emotions to life
with new feelings of love!
It is a love like the heartbeat
of the whole universe,
mysterious, exalted,
pain and pleasure to my heart.
When I was a little girl,
I would dream so fondly
and so sweetly
of the man in my future.
When, in the heavens, the rays
of his beauty I saw,
they seemed to me
like a thing divine.
I felt that love beating
like the entire universe,
mysterious, exalted,
pain and pleasure to my heart!

I believe again

Lovers, photo from http://goo.gl/NToDW
I believe again
rising through the ashes of your heart
a tiny spark of hope
a little flame defies my winter
I feel again
the warmth of a summer evening
the kind rain  that stops my thirst at night
all that was you
all that was me
no more than a pair of dewdrops
dripping on the same rock
and yet
your light plays with my shadows
evaporating sorrow
I open my eyes welcoming you
Simple and soft
your song to my lips
I start to remember
what it means to love
Slowly, healing
I believe again

The Enkindled Spring, by D.H. Lawrence

This spring as it comes bursts up in bonfires green,
Wild puffing of emerald trees, and flame-filled bushes,
Thorn-blossom lifting in wreaths of smoke between
Where the wood fumes up and the watery, flickering rushes.

I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze
Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze.

And I, what fountain of fire am I among
This leaping combustion of spring? My spirit is tossed
About like a shadow buffeted in the throng
Of flames, a shadow that’s gone astray, and is lost.
